I went out last friday afternoon to a spot is around 8000ft in elevation where I have found multiple S. viridis at. Got there late in the afternoon around 3:30 and started flipping. I was out till around 6:30 when the sun set and the temps started to drop but I did find a half dozen S. viridis and Latrodectus hesperus at least three species of ants, they were under every other rock, and one little scorpion. I didnt get a picture of him but it looked like V. lapidicola. The little guy bolted ...

North of Flagstaff

I went north of flagstaff on Sunday evening hoping for a good night of bug hunting and maybe a female H. spadix. The afternoon forecast was for a high of 95 and I haven’t been out for a couple of weeks so I figured what the hell. I called up another local bug hunter and we headed out around 8 pm. We arrived at the first spot around 9:15, found around a dozen Paruroctonus utahensis from the same area that I collected one last summer as well as my Hadrurus spadix. Unfortunately this time no ...

I went on a trip with my parents June 13-21, a week in AZ then 2 days in Vegas. From the 22nd till now I've been taking and sorting through photos... even though a good portion of them were taken in hotel rooms along the way before I even got back.

IDs on anything not ID'd would be extremely helpful.

Steatoda sp.

this was on the border between the desert and a parking lot for trucks behind starbucks.

so my girlfriends dad had planned a hike up Picacho Peak today and we decided to tag along. it is a SEVERELY steep climb up to a saddle, back down the other side, then back up to the summit. the view was pretty nice on top of some neat critters i found wandering around. unfortunately, i didnt take pics of the peak its self. but heres a view from the top of the peak

so, on the way up, i found a bird nest. i believe they were verdins or something of the sort. they were very cute birds. ...

Weekend Hunt

I went out this last weekend for a bit of rock flipping and blacklighting. Not expecting to find much got out in the field with a local bug hunting friend around 4 oclock and started walking up the hill. We didn’t find much during the day but managed to spot a bunch once the sun went down. The conditions were not the best for scorpion hunting, the wind was blowing down the canyon in very strong gusts and the temps were dropping pretty fast once the sun went down. Even with not the best conditions ...
