Weekend Hunt
I went out this last weekend for a bit of rock flipping and blacklighting. Not expecting to find much got out in the field with a local bug hunting friend around 4 oclock and started walking up the hill. We didn’t find much during the day but managed to spot a bunch once the sun went down. The conditions were not the best for scorpion hunting, the wind was blowing down the canyon in very strong gusts and the temps were dropping pretty fast once the sun went down. Even with not the best conditions I think that the final count was close to 40 animals from possibly 4 genera. Even managed to find one little guy that doesn’t fit the description of any that we know to be in the area. I will post pictures up later once I get them all photographed and Id. The list at this time is as follows:
C. exilicauda "gertschi"
Serradigitus sp.
Vaejovis spinigerus
Vaejovis lapidicola ?
Paruroctonus sp.
