Re: Calisoga longitarsus
I noticed they incorporate the sac in the web and watch over it...so I am assuming they do not do a 'ball' like other tarantulas do.
Josh would I be correct in this assumption ?

Re: Calisoga longitarsus
hey josh
once the longi makes the hammock style eggsac do they pretty much just hover over it or do they still come out of their burrow at night to look for food? i can't see into any of the burrows my girls are using and i am curious if you have noticed any big behavioural changes to look for when they have made a sack

Re: Calisoga longitarsus
no real behavioral differences aside from heightened aggression. they still hunt at night and feed. i have a 3rd sac and it seems very consistent with the hammock style sac. they hang it from the ceiling and have a hole above it so the can sit on it, but it is also suspended off the ground so they can go underneath it as well. very cool style of making a sac.

Re: Calisoga longitarsus
hmm. thanks for the info.
i think i need recage one of my spiders. it has buried upside down tupperware with holes cut into it for access as hides... didn't know they made hammocks when i built that housing solution. now i am afraid they won't be able to build a hammock right attaching to plastic

Hey Allen bud...welcome aboard, super cool bugs they are.
The Theveneti should be sacking out soon. So far to date I have hatched out 3 longitarsus sacs.
We [Allen and I] also bred longitarsus again at the show. They did it with everybody watching...exhibitionists man.... gotta love em
