Trade Boxes
Hello Everyone,
This is James Hall from Flagstaff Az. I am planing a trip to the sky islands here in arizona and was wondering if anyone on this forum would like me to keep an eye out for some bugs for them. I will mainly be going for scorpions and tarantulas but if there is something else that someone would like I can bag it up for you.
I would really like to use this trip to get a Trade Box going between clubs. In the fish club that I am part of in phoenix we do this from time to time with other clubs. It is a way that our club can get some species that we dont have as well as to send something that they might not have to them.
The ALIEN and SCABIES clubs are very close together and would make it very easy to work a box trades. But I could do the same with other clubs. What I would do is to send the box to a central member and they can contact you and set up a time to drop off your bugs, or I will send a box when your club is about to have get together so that everyone can get them at one time.
Here is the list of what I am going to look for personally and if there is anything on this list what anyone from here would like please let me know.
Vaejovis vorhiesi
Uroctonites huachuca
Serradigitus allredi
Serradigitus agilis
Hadrurus arizonensis
Diplocentrus spitzeri
Centruroides sculpturatus
Scolopendra heros arizonensis
Vinegaroons
Maybe-Long distance from where I will mostly be.
Serradigitus harbisoni
Hadrurus arizonensis "pallidus"
Smeringurus mesaensis
I hope that you guys are having a crawling good weekend.

Re: Trade Boxes
Well sorry guys, very little buggin unless you count mosquitoes. I took the whole family down as it is getting to be the last couple of weekends that my wife is still off from the baby. We went down to tucson and got a hotel room so that my wife and daughter would be more comfortable and I took the car out and went all over the mountains south of tucson.
The hunting was a little off, there were swarms of grass hoppers and tons of orb weaver spiders but little of anything else.
I spend most of my afternoons and early evening flipping for Diplocentrus spitzeri and didnt find a one. I got drenched to the skin at least once a day sometimes twice and I think that was part of the problem. It would rain around 5:30-6 and cool off the rocks and ground and I would find very little after that. I did find a lot of Vaejovis spinigerus and a hand full of C. exilicauda but that was about it.
I was able to find one vineagaroon and a dozen or so Sunburst Diving Beetles, Thermonectus mamoratus. All in all a great trip but very little bug collecting. I will be making more local trips over the next month, so if there is something that you are wanting to add to your collection let me know.

Re: Trade Boxes
Sounds like you had a pretty good trip. They probably all came out right after the rain was finished. I still have several AZ scorps I want to collect and a few odds and ends of other inverts. Let me know if you plan on heading out and maybe I can join you.
